SALEM, Ore. – Today, Oregon Freedom Coalition Executive Director Nick Stark released the following statement regarding the May 2025 Oregon Economic and Revenue Forecast:

“The commentary around the May 2025 Oregon Economic and Revenue Forecast has largely missed the mark on the nature of the problem with Oregon’s budget outlook. Much of the commentary is focused on the expectation that Oregon will take in $37.4 billion in general funds, approximately 2% less than the $38.2 billion estimated in the February forecast. Seemingly ignored is the fact that this can still bring a budget increase of nearly 17% from the approved budget in the previous biennium. That increase is nearly three times the inflation rate over the course of that time.

Those who are serious about seeing the reality of the budget problem and tackling it head on know that Oregon doesn’t have a revenue problem; Oregon has a spending problem.”
