SALEM, Ore. – Today, Oregon Freedom Coalition Executive Director Nick Stark released the following statement regarding the Oregon Legislative Assembly’s proposed cap-and-trade plan:
“This week's cap-and-trade proposal is horrendously out of touch with the Oregon people, as per usual. This proposal completely ignores the weeks of turmoil in the 2019 and 2020 sessions, during which Oregonians made their disapproval of cap-and-trade known.
Cap-and-trade will be extremely destructive to the state's economy if it is allowed to move forward. Businesses will continue to flee the state or be forced to shut their doors completely as the Oregon people are left worse off economically.
If leaders in Salem were serious about solving budget issues, they would endorse cutting weight wasteful spending on projects that do not align with core agency missions instead of gouging the taxpayer with tax increases and cap-and-trade policy. Instead, leaders in Salem are once again perfectly fine with sacrificing their constituents on the altar of climate extremism and other out-of-touch programs.”
