Oregon’s Economic Outlook is Abysmal. Pro-Growth Policies Can Change It.

SALEM, Ore. – Today, Oregon Freedom Coalition Executive Director Nick Stark released the following statement highlighting the abysmal rank of 43rd in economic outlook Oregon received in the American Legislative Exchange Council’s latest edition of Rich States, Poor States: ALEC-Laffer State Economic Competitiveness Index:

“Once again, Rich States, Poor States accurately describes what four decades of failed progressive leadership and policies have led to in Oregon. Our once prosperous state has one of the most abysmal economic outlooks in the nation at 43rd. High taxes, wasteful spending, burdensome regulations, failing education, skyrocketing crime, and many other progressive policies and policy outcomes will continue to encourage Oregonians to move elsewhere for prosperity.

But pro-growth economic policies can turn things around. We can have prosperity in our beautiful state once more. Oregon’s leaders should be looking to what works in other states like Utah, Idaho, and Arizona, rather than using Oregonians as lab rats for radical progressive social experimentation. Turning our state around requires policy solutions that promote an accountable, affordable, better educated, business-friendly, healthy, and safe Oregon. Policy solutions that reduce taxes, promote the spirit of entrepreneurship, foster educational excellence, and maintain the rule of law will make Oregon an economic powerhouse.
