Nick Stark on Oregon DOGE

OFC Executive Director Nick Stark was pleased to join Senator Daniel Bonham and Senator Mike McLane on Oregon DOGE to discuss what OFC is doing to bring freedom back to Oregon.

Press Release: Oregon Has a Spending Problem

On Wednesday, the May 2025 Oregon Economic and Revenue Forecast was released. The revenue projections included in the May forecast provide the upper limit for what lawmakers can spend in the next budget. Any collections over that projection gets returned to the people through the Kicker. OFC Executive Director Nick Stark released a statement on the forecast, noting that Oregon doesn’t have a revenue problem; Oregon has a spending problem.

Oregon Government Accounting Misplaces a Few Pennies

Oregon Catalyst reported this week that a recent audit by the Oregon Secretary of State found $1.6 billion in accounting errors. For those keeping track, that’s a little over three-quarters of what was proposed in tax increases. There’s a reason our accountability policy beacon includes creating “greater transparency and accuracy in government accounting.”

Hitting the Brakes on the Advanced Clean Truck (ACT) Rules

The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) halted penalties on the Advanced Clean Truck (ACT) rules for model years 2025 and 2026, ensuring trucks remain available for Oregon’s hardworking businesses. DEQ’s pause on the rules come after the hard work of Representative Shelly Boshart Davis and Representative Ed Diehl in highlighting the difficulty of implementing ACT and the destructive consequences it would have on Oregon’s small businesses.
